SHADOW
BABY

“We saw it through the glass–it leapt, screamed, went away. It was hot outside, we put up many screens in the windows, my leg wasn’t working, the news was blaring, we stopped for water–and then it appeared–a destituent–pause–propelling–pause–force.

It secreted itself, slid underground, became an ancient transparency, and then sprayed out everywhere, covering the ground.

It dissolved–pause–lagged–pause–said a prayer–pause–stopped–pause, had an arrow facing it–pause–

and then it …“died”.

We put out a net to catch it–the net turned to vapor , we inhaled, we swallowed our spit–we repeated the process.

We said: ‘‘Stop!--IT–where are you going?’

It said: " home of rhuthmos ....the via negativa, via negativa, the city inside the anti-city.”

We went out early in the morning to catch our stillnesses deep in the water.

We took our clear and porous boats, but the nets came back empty.

Now, today, we’re finally alone, it’s dark and cool outside, and with these crystal screens for eyes, we see “it”. Well, we don’t see “it,” but the flowing before it–pause– and after it–pause–in front of it–and behind.”
